|With Ian Phillips comes a particularly potent mixture of strategy and creativity.
He first envisioned a business like theWord when he realised that written English often fell far below what was required. And that observation applied as much to those for whom English is the mother tongue as it did to those for whom it was an acquired skill.
Ian’s commercial experience is very wide, encompassing publishing, marketing communications and consultancy. He has advised some of the largest and best-known companies in the world.
His specialism is taking complex issues and simplifying them into easy-to-deliver, easy-to-understand communications. It requires a penetrating thought-process allied to commanding writing skills, a combination that has resulted in executive speeches, strategy think-pieces, websites, and countless reports and brochures.
Ian also chairs the Board of a state-funded college for 16-18-year-old students in London and sits on a panel advising the UK Government on communicating with colleges.
